“CNN and the UK Telegraph have both reported that the dogs have been rescued since the footage aired, and are both receiving veterinary care; the more seriously wounded dog is at a clinic in the city of Mito, while the protective spaniel-type dog is receiving care at a shelter in the same town.”

The world has been following the devastating aftermath of last week’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The situation continues to worsen with radiation threats and aftershocks and people are struggling for shelter, food and water.

But the animals of Japan are also in crisis and there are actions you can take to help volunteer teams rescue and care for homeless pets.

One of the organizations set up to help with relief efforts is the Animal Miracle Network who are now collecting cash donations in order to send volunteers and provide cats, dogs and other animals with food, shelter and medical attention.

100% of all donations go directly to the cause and funding is needed desperately for the rescue efforts to continue.
